Posts on Craigslist are regularly crawled by Search engine bots, and often appear in the first two pages of the search engine. Earlier posting multiple ads on Craigslist was simple, but to combat spam they have incorporated certain restrictions.

Earlier the captcha consisted of a single word, but now the captcha consists of two words which have to be typed in. Also the daily posting limit for Craigslist is now three advertisements every day.

The internet is one of the most cost effective media for marketing both digital products and physical goods. The cost of a setting up a website is low and an internet marketing campaign can be set up at a nominal cost. The effectiveness of the marketing method can be tracked easily and necessary changes can be made quickly.

Earlier, building  a website involved registering a domain name, purchasing hosting, adding content to the website and some amount of promotion on relevant forums. Search engines would then index the website and based on the quality and nature of the content, the website would get traffic from search engines and other websites linking to it.

Today, building a useful website with good content no longer ensure that it will rank well in search engines. To get traffic, the website has to be marketed actively on the internet. Some of  the internet marketing techniques used to increase traffic are:
1. PPC marketing using Google Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing , Bidvertiser. Can be expensive, if  the ROI on the campaigns is not monitored closely

2. Buying text links on relevant websites - get targeted traffic to your website for a monthly or yearly flat fee. The back links will also improve the search engine rankings.

3. Advertising on classified websites like Craigslist, Gumtree

4. Submitting articles with a link to your website to article directories

5. Promoting the website through Social Networking websites like Stumble Upon, Digg
